If you only got a glance at the Air-King 126900, you wouldn’t be blamed for thinking it was essentially identical to the previous Air-King 116900 that it supplanted. However, a closer review does reveal a few notable updates that alter the way the Air-King wears and performs. Over the years many brand enthusiasts have been calling for the current Rolex Air King to be discontinued. Some wanted an update and others wanted Rolex to completely shift production to other collections. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Air-King (Ref. 126900) replaces the now discontinued Air-King (Ref. 116900), which was last updated in 2016.
When Rolex presented its new releases at the end of March 2022, nobody was really expecting a new Rolex Air-King. In fact, all signs were pointing to a discontinuation of the relatively unpopular timepiece.
